On August 2, 1909, the first Lincoln cents were released into circulation. A mad dash ensued, and all available pieces were quickly scooped up.
Some were the 1909 V.D.B. cent, of which 27,995,000 were struck. V.D.B. actually refers to the designer of the Lincoln cent, Victor David Brenner.
Used, 1909 V.D.B. United States Lincoln head penny minted in Philadelphia.
